Client Description:
For our client, a family-owned company, manufacturer of automobile wiring harness systems within the automotive business.
Job Description:
•Responsible in providing European Union regulatory compliance to the organization
•Lead point of contact with customs brokers providing guidance on customs clearance, documentation and origin of goods
•Develop, maintain and update customs compliance SOPs applicable for the region.
•Work with team members in the different countries in EMEA and serve as the SPOC for regulatory compliance with North and Central America and Europe
•Manage export control and ensure compliance of logistical processes with internal and external rules
•Leading official customs audits, investigations and export controls for different countries
•Contact person for plants and Customer Service Center (CSCs) on import-export related issues
•Follow up with current laws and regulations, provide advice to different business units, assess impact and provide recommendations (i.e. Brexit, POD, Centralized warehouses, etc.)
•Develop, implement and maintain HTS Update Process, Work with our Global Center of Excellence providing advice on correct tariff codes for the region harmonizing them across all plants and CSCs
•Develop improvement plan and implement, maintenance plan and electronic processing, work-flow processes within the CMS (Customs Data Management System) system
•To support the implementation of the lean projects in the logistics customs area – different tools, methods to get improvements – apply these concepts in the plants
•To guarantee that all the changes in network/value streams are communicated locally to all involved entities in the process
•Follow-up of all the problems involving the brokers and the plants
•Cordially work with finance department in the plant - make the control of the customs costs in comparison with the forecast and budget
Candidate Profile:
•Professional degree in international business, economics, logistics or comparable education
•3-6 years of working experience in the field of transportation, import & export in a logistic environment, ideally in the automotive sector, or in a global trade compliance consulting firm
•Experience in customs & export regulations and trade program requirements, knowledge of export compliance
•Strong use of MS Excel, SAP, MS Access seeking to compliantly manipulate data, develop of queries and macros to efficiently review and assess compliance activities
•Strong time management with setting the right priorities, ability to work independently
•Business fluent in English (verbal and written), German is a plus
